His art probes the post-modernistic idea that everything is a linguistic construct.

The physical occurrence of his ceramic forms, confront this cynical removal from the actual experience. They have a tension between the questions they raise and the thoroughness they manifest.

Jan puts the present time against the human history, reaching back to the stone age. His objects represent deep-rooted fundamental symbols.

 

Among the instruments he uses, are craft, dualism, comedy, and play.

If his art makes a statement, it tries to reason with the post-modern distain against any merit of competence or aesthetics.
